Lawyer and privacy activist Max Schrems (29). He became famous for winning a case that overturned the Safe Harbour system used by thousands of companies to transfer data from the European Union to the United States, and bringing a Europe-wide class action against Facebook on behalf of tens of thousands of consumers. He was included in the law and policy category.
Fashion designer Roshi Porkar (28). Born to Iranian parents in Vienna, Porkar graduated from Vienna's University of Applied Arts. She founded her own label in 2014. She's currently based in Paris and works for womenswear designer Kenzo. In an interview with notjustalabel.com she said: “I like Vienna a lot but then again, who doesn’t like the place they’re from? It’s quiet, grey and grumpy. However, it’s also spawned so many interesting characters. It’s far from ever becoming a fashion capital but that’s okay, I think a lot of people here wouldn’t want it to be one.”
Quantitative analyst Markus Schanta (29). Based in London, Schanta is a Quantitative Researcher at Man AHL, one of the world’s largest independent hedge funds, and a leader in high-alpha, liquid investment strategies. He received a BSc in Computer Science from the Vienna University of Technology in 2011. In the same year he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a graduate degree in the United States. He graduated from Columbia University in 2012 with a MS in Computer Science and a specialization in Machine Learning.
Editor-in-chief of i-D Germany, Alexandra Bondi de Antoni (26). Based in Berlin, former freelance photographer Bondi de Antoni oversees editorial and branded content for Vice's fashion and culture site, and is particularly involved in the coverage of music and fashion. She also serves as the managing editor of Amuse Germany – i-D's luxury platform – which has partnered with Mercedes, Cadillac and Chanel.
Dominik Beron (25), Jacob Wagner (24) and Fatima Almukhtar (25). This trio co-founded the social enterprise Refugeeswork.at – with the goal of creating equal chances on the labour market for migrants and to counter negative stereotypes about refugees. Their online job platform makes it easier for incoming refugees to connect with work opportunities. They have over 400 companies looking to employ refugees of varying skills levels. This year they plan to introduce a version of their platform to licensees across Europe.
