As well as being a former Playboy bunny girl, and playmate, Cathy used to be a nurse and has made several reality TV appearances. The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace, after a brief courtship that lasted just seven months.
The pair have said the divorce is amicable, with Lugner saying that he had enjoyed “a beautiful time with Cathy” and that he didn’t want a “War of the Roses”. She will keep a house outside Vienna and receive a monthly alimony payment.
In mid-October, Lugner was diagnosed with prostate cancer and is now receiving medical treatment. Cathy meanwhile is working on her TV career. After an appearance on the Austrian version of Celebrity Big Brother she is reportedly in talks about appearing in Germany’s Jungle Camp show – inspired by the British TV show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Responding to allegations last year that Cathy only married him for his money, Lugner said: “I have a younger woman, and she has a man with a lot of money. But we have other characteristics that make us who we are, and if each of us are happy with that, then as far as I'm concerned what's wrong with it?”
Earlier this year the construction entrepreneur put his name forward to run for the Austrian presidency, saying Cathy would be a perfect First Lady, but he didn’t make it past the first round of voting.
Lugner made his money in the building industry and now has an extensive property portfolio, including a shopping centre in Vienna.
