Norway’s PM still waiting to hear from Trump

US President-elect Donald Trump has now spoken with both the Danish and the Swedish prime ministers but Norwegian PM Erna Solberg is still waiting for a phone call from the incoming leader of the free world.

“There has not been a conversation with the incoming president but contact has been made [to set up] a conversation,” Trude Måseide of the prime minister’s office told online media AldriMer.no.

Denmark’s prime minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, was the first Scandinavian leader to speak with Trump after his surprise victory earlier this month. Rasmussen said that the two men had “a friendly and constructive chat” of about ten minutes on November 16th.

Swedish PM Stefan Löfven touched base with the incoming US president on Wednesday for a “brief” telephone conversation.

Although Solberg has yet to speak with Trump, she was quick to offer him congratulations and stress the importance of Norway’s relationship with the United States.

“The US is our closest ally, and we have common values. We want to continue the good cooperation,” the PM said.

When Trump finally does call Solberg up, it’s a good bet that president-elect will praise Norway and informally invite the PM to visit him in the White House as that was the basic gist of his conversation with the Danish and Swedish leaders.
