Schumacher’s official publicity team launched a new Facebook page and Instagram account for the speed legend, marking 22 years since he won his first of seven F1 titles on November 13th, 1994 and became Germany’s first Formula 1 World Drivers’ Champion at the Australian Grand Prix.
The publicity team explained that they intended to share moments from Schumacher’s career with fans in a more public way through Facebook and Instagram. The Süddeutsche Zeitung reported that a Twitter account is also set to launch.
The beloved racing driver suffered a serious head injury in 2013 while skiing in the French Alps. He was placed in a medically induced coma and was gradually withdrawn in 2014. Since then he has been undergoing rehabilitation and little is known about his current condition.
“This page will be our meeting place to collect and exchange memories and to celebrate Michael’s many achievements, established as a thank you gesture to all you wonderful fans,” the Facebook page’s administrators write in a post.
Already the page has gained nearly 1.5 million likes, while the Instagram account has more than 75,000 followers.
Schumacher’s 17-year-old son, known as Mick Junior, has started his own racing career in Formula 4.
