Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon reveals extent of his wealth

The newspaper interviewed Prince Haakon in connection with his opening of the annual SIKT conference, a gathering of young leaders in Ålesund. 

 

At the interview, the heir to the throne asked his communications manager Marianne Hagen to give out information about his private wealth. In a text message, Hagen revealed that Haakon’s fortune is  “about nine million kroner and is invested in mutual funds in Norway and abroad. In addition, there are the private properties Skaugum, Flatholmen and Uvdal. “

 

The remarks offer the first real glimpse into Prince Haakon’s finances, as the crown prince is exempt from taxes and therefore cannot be looked up in the national tax rolls. 

 

Dagbladet asked estate agent Privatmegleren to estimate the value of Haakon’s official residence Skaugum. The head of the firm, Carl Frederik Solli, said that the uniqueness of the property makes it difficult to put a concrete value on it, but estimated that it is worth between 150 and 200 million kroner. 

 

The crown prince’s properties in Nore and Uvdal were bought for 3.5 million kroner in 2007, while his holiday home on Flatholmen was purchased for 9 million kroner the following year.
