Rival operator Telenor also underperformed in the study by Svenskt kvalitetsindex, which looks at factors affecting private and business customers, such as insufficient information about plans, and how complaints are handled.

In the mobile coverage category 3 alone got a failing grade from private customers.

“The result for our private customers is not fun reading and is something we take very seriously,” 3’s public relations manager Kamran Alemdar told news agency TT.

“We’re working a lot on this and have made a number of improvements since the summer that should show results.”

Cell phone customers were happiest with Halebop, followed by Telenor.

Business customers experienced fewer discrepencies. Telia came out on top, while Tele2, Teneor and 3 all got similar scores.

But the study showed mobile operators have plenty of room for improvement in the eyes of customers.

Sixteen percent of private cusomers said they had lodged complaints with their operators, while a further ten percent said they’d had cause to complain but hadn’t taken action.

The study is based on interviews with 2,000 mobile customers.
