Stockholm Sangeet Conference

Now in its tenth year, Stockholm Sangeet Conference is Sweden's biggest festival for Indian classical music and dancing. This year it welcomes south Indian violinist sisters Akkarai, singer Sawani Shende who is a rising star in north Indian music, dancer Sarita Mishra and many more. Check out the website for the full programme, which includes a family concert aimed at children aged four and above on Saturday.

When: October 15th-17th

Where: Musikaliska, a concert venue on Nybrokajen in Stockholm

Tickets: 220 kronor-280 kronor for the headline concert on Sunday, but there are free events available too this weekend. Tickets are available from Musikaliska.

Pop Orange celebrates Great Britain

Swedes have a bordering-on-obsessive fascination with British culture (wake a Swede up in the middle of the night and they'll be able to tell you their favourite UK football team without hesitating) and this weekend a club in the town of Norrköping will go all in at the event 'Pop Orange celebrates Great Britain'. Pay a visit to Arbis Bar & Salonger to dance to music by artists such as Billy Idol, Kate Bush, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Sex Pistols, Eurythmics, Belle and Sebastian, Snow Patrol and Van Morrison.

Where: Arbis Bar & Salonger, Bredgatan 54, Norrköping

When: October 15th, 10pm-3am

Tickets: 100 kronor (120 kronor on the door)

Gothenburg Chocolate, Liquorice and Delicacy Festival

Indian and British culture notwithstanding, we know that there's nothing that cheers us up quite as much as chocolate here at The Local. Lucky you if you're in western Sweden this weekend for this Gothenburg festival, celebrating its tenth anniversary. Last year more than 14,000 people visited the three-day festival, which claims to be the largest confectionary fair in the Nordics.

When: October 14th-16th

Where: Eriksbergshallen, Gothenburg

Tickets: There are different options available, check Billetto for details

Ice hockey: Luleå Hockey v Färjestad BK

Never mind the fact that it's on ice, Sweden's national sport is fast, furious and sure to keep you warm in the chilly autumn weather. Luleå's home team is playing Färjestad BK at the Coop Norrbotten Arena and although Luleå has the advantage, Färjestad are likely to put up as much of a fight as they can.

When: October 15th, 6.30pm

Where: Coop Norrbotten Arena, Skutviken, Luleå

Tickets: 90-340 kronor, check the website for options
