Police are currently searching for the 54-year-old murder suspect, the woman’s partner of 13 years.
According to police spokesman Roman Hahslinger, the suspect’s mother grew concerned after the pair failed to pick up her dog as planned and she was unable to reach either of them by telephone.
She then went to their home in the Laxenburger Straße, where she found the lifeless victim.
Stab wounds on the upper body and evidence of strangulation have led investigators to suspect that the Austrian woman was murdered.
Police have secured the alleged murder weapon, a kitchen knife.
The victim’s partner is currently nowhere to be found and is therefore urgently being sought by police for questioning.
