VIDEO: See Norway’s PM ride around on a rubbish truck

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg posted a video to Facebook on Tuesday showing her performing some rather unusual work in the name of green energy.

The PM visited three companies working on Norway’s conversion to green energy to get a first-hand look at new technologies.

The video shows Solberg hitching a ride on the back of a rubbish truck in Tønsberg, driving one of Norway’s first electric trucks in Oslo, visiting a new solar plant in Porsgrunn and then heading back to Tønsberg to check out a new “magical” factory that stores biogas made from rubbish.

Solberg said that the companies are helping lead the way for Norway’s green ambitions.

“I visited three workplaces that have created activity and contributions to the green transition with smart ideas and innovation. Private businesses must be the driver in the green transition but government must also contribute,” Solberg wrote.

Over the summer, Solberg’s government announced plans to push up Norway’s climate goals by a full 20 years, saying the country will become carbon-neutral by 2030.
