According to the indictment, the man, who was 18 at the time, had sex with a then 15-year-old girl three times.
On one occasion, he got the girl to give him oral sex by providing her with GHB, a so-called date rape drug. Later that same evening, he is said to have found the girl unconscious from an overdose but failed to notify anyone about her condition.
“It is unacceptable that something like this can happen in an institution where young people should feel secure and supported by qualified personnel,” the victim’s lawyer, Andreas Nylund, said.
The man admitted to three counts of sexual intercourse with a minor, but denies that he left her in a helpless condition, his lawyer Per Ove Marthinsen said.
“He explained that GHB was used that there was sexual contact made but the two things weren’t connected. Thus, he does not admit his guilt nor should he be found guilty on that charge,” he said.
The man could face up to six years in prison if found guilty.
The legal age of sexual consent in Norway is 16.
