After several days of changeable weather, with heavy rain and storms in parts of the country, an anticyclone will bring stability with summer weather returning just in time to celebrate the holiday.
Sun is forecast for the entire weekend, with temperatures in the mid to high 20s on Saturday and between 26 and 34C on Sunday, according to Il Meteo. On Monday, temperatures are expected to be between 24C in Basilicata and 34C in the northern regions of South Tyrol and Emilia Romagna.
But not all of Italy is basking in the sunshine. In the alpine town of Cortina, residents were surprised to wake up to 20cm of fresh snow on Thursday morning.
