Italy, US and Colombia bust massive drug trafficking ring

Thirty-three drug traffickers have been arrested and large quantities of cocaine seized as part of the investigation between Italy, America and Colombia

Eleven tonnes of cocaine, worth €3 billion, were seized as part of the operation, called 'Due Mari', which was coordinated between Italy's financial police, Calabria's anti-mafia squad (DDA), the Colombian National Police and America's Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Franco and Giuseppe Cosimo Monteleone, suspected members a clan of the Calabrian-based 'Ndrangheta mafia, allegedly headed drugs ring.
