Watch: Escaped bull goes on the run in northern Spain

It is not something you see every day and motorists were shocked on Friday to share the road with an escaped bull in the northern Spanish city of Oviedo.

The bull was filmed on police traffic cameras walking casually down Calle Muñoz Degraín, a duel carriageway, at around 8.40am on Friday.

The bull did not seem to be in any great hurry and caused a tailback of cars that drove slowly behind the animal. 

“It was huge!” a woman who witnessed the scene told local news, while a man described how at first he thought the animal was a cow but then, to his surprise, realized it was a bull. 

A bin man managed to coax the animal onto a field to avoid an accident while they waited for local police to arrive.

Police managed to locate the bull’s owner, who came to pick it up in a truck. It had escaped from a farm in La Manjoya, a nearby town.

It is not the first time a bull has escaped in Spain. In May 2015 a bull injured 11 people when it escaped from a festival in the town of Talavera de la Reina.
