Kerry Roberts died in the early hours of Friday morning after returning to her hotel apartment after a night out in the resort of Adeje, in the south of the Canary Island.

Police initially arrested David Jones, her 33-year-old ex-boyfriend and father of her child, after viewing CCTV footage that showed an altercation between the two, according to Tenerife based newspaper, Diario de Avisos.

But he was released after questioning and police have now said they are treating her death as a suspected sucide although he may face charges for domestic violence.

The pair from Bristol had been on holiday with the father and girlfriend of Jones and their five-year-old daughter.

Witnesses described hearing a furious row between the pair shortly before the balcony leap and the CCTV footage report

Jones reportedly told friends that he had begged her not to jump. “He said he was trying to call her back from the balcony but she wouldn’t listen,” an unnamed family friend told the Mail Online.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are offering assistance to the family of a British woman who has sadly died in Tenerife.”
