Floods continued to cause chaos in France on Thursday as authorities in Paris are getting increasingly worried by the continuous rise of the River Seine.

The nonstop rainfall has left villages submerged and claimed the lives of a toddler in Burgundy over the weekend as well as an 86-year-old woman in central France on Wednesday. 
 
On Thursday red alerts for flooding remained in place in the Seine-et-Marne département, with an orange alert remaining for the départements of Essonne, Loiret, Indre-et-Loire, Cher, Loir-et-Cher, and Indre. Click here to read the latest updates.
 
In Paris the river Seine had risen 4.3 metres higher than usual on Wednesday evening and is expected to top five metres in the coming days. 
 
On Thursday the RER C train line will be partly suspended as of 4pm with the St Michel station already closed.

But there is still a way to go before water levels reach those of the 1910 “flood of the century”. See the footage below of what the Seine looked like back then.
