SAS cancels 40 flights over technical issue

As of Monday morning, 17 departures and 22 arrivals at Copenhagen Airport had been cancelled. All affected flights are operating under SAS subsidiary Cimber.

Cancelled departures include scheduled flights to Stavanger, Zurich, Helsinki, Stuttgart, Wroclaw, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, London, Aarhus, Arberdeen, Munich and Warsaw. 
 
Arrivals have been cancelled from Oslo, Stavanger, London, Aberdeen, Munich, Talinn, Palanga, Wroclaw, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Bruxelles, Helsinki, Warsaw, Zurich, Düsseldorf, and Berlin.
 
“A technical inspection of the aircraft type Bombardier CRJ900 operating in Cimber will unfortunately cause some cancellations to and from Copenhagen during May 22-23,” SAS wrote in a statement. “We kindly ask our travellers to check the status of the flight before leaving to the airport. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for our travellers.”
 
SAS spokeswoman Anna Vibeke Nielsen told check-in.dk at the CRJ900 aircraft have a reported problem with landing gear, leading SAS to order a technical inspection of all of it the affected planes. 
 
The airline anticipated that there would not be additional cancellations on Monday but could not say with certainty when the affected aircraft would be cleared to continue service. 
 
SAS wrote on its website that passengers needing to rebook or wishing to request a refund should contact their travel agent or SAS’s customer service. 
 
SAS is fifty percent owned by the Norwegian, Danish and Swedish states.
