The ticket was bought from a kiosk in Luleå in Norrbotten, northern Sweden, and the 127 million kronor prize is Sweden’s eighth-highest lottery jackpot.
Svenska Spel knows who the winner is and has tried to call them but has, as yet, only reached an answerphone message.
“It’s amazing – this is by far 2016’s biggest prize,” said Svenska Spel’s spokesman, Pierre Jonsson.
“It's the only thing people talk about right now,” Pedram Torabi, the vendor of the winning ticket, told Swedish newspaper, Aftonbladet.
“It's great that it's coming up north for once – it usually goes further south.”
An eastern Sweden resident won over 237 million kronor ($28.5 million) in the country's biggest ever lottery windfall in 2013.
