Sweden has announced its squad for Euro 2016 and it includes six of the Under-21 side which took Sweden to its historic win in the European Championships alongside star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Sweden's national side hasn't reached the semi-finals of a European competition since 1992, but the Nordic country's hoping to capitalize on the success of the players who took home their first European Under-21 title in history last summer, sparking mass celebrations.

Outgoing manager Erik Hamrén announced his full squad on Thursday and it includes six of the young stars, including defenders Victor Lindelöf and Ludwig Augustinsson, and former Under-21 captain and Manchester City striker John Guidetti (pictured below). Also included is last season's top scorer in the Swedish league, forward Emir Kujović.

PSG player and Sweden's top goal scorer in history, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will join the squad in what he has said will be his last European Championship.

Other big international names on the list include Martin Olsson, who plays for Norwich in the English premier league, Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson and and Mikael Lustig who is signed to top flight Scottish side Celtic.

Hamburg star Albin Ekdal was also named by Hamrén, however his ability to play remains in doubt after he was hospitalized after falling in a German nightclub last weekend, just a month ahead of the Euros.

The 26-year-old revealed on Twitter on Monday that he had cut his back after landing on a glass table.

“I'll do everything in my power to play in the Euros, if I'm selected, which I have long aspired to,” he said.

Sweden will play Slovenia in Malmö on May 30th and then Wales in Solna, north of Stockholm on June 5th in their final warm-up games before taking on Republic of Ireland at Paris' Stade de France in their first European championship match on June 13th.

The Swedes also face Belgium and Italy in Group E.
