The three-minute video is made up of 90,000 individual images and the artists behind the project even built a custom-made vehicle – the Hypermac – for the camera they used.

Created with the help of pilots with airline Swiss, the video features a stunning landing at Zurich airport, a fireworks display, a train ride and even a visit to the city’s opera house mid-performance.

“We had to accompany the Hypermac like bodyguards and push our way through the crowds,” the artists told Zurich daily the Tages Anzeiger, describing the filming process.

The video is part of Della Bella and Mülhauser’s ongoing Helvetia by Night project which also includes a new panorama of Zurich at twilight, made with shots taken by a drone flying at a height of 100 metres across the city.

At one point, police stopped the drone’s operations when the machine flew too close to police holding cells, with officers fearing a drug delivery.

But the artists were later formally thanked by police after lights placed on their drone were used to illuminate the scene of a violent crime.
