The country could see highs of between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius in the coming days as we move into the fourth month of the year.
“The 25 degree mark in spring is very interesting for meteorologists,” according to UBIMET weatherman Josef Lukas.
The Alpine region will be hit by particularly unseasonable warm winds this weekend, with the sun expected to be on show between dawn and dusk with just a few clouds.
Temperatures will be between 17 and 26 degrees, with parts of Styria and Lower Austria being slightly cooler.
“The weather will be perfect for a nature trip, whether that’s hiking, biking, running or a visit to a beer garden,” said Lukas.
The weather expert warned however the that high temperatures will also bring high levels of pollen, although mountainous regions will be less affected. There is also an increased risk of avalanches in some areas as snow begins to melt.
Impressively, some swimmers took advantage of the early sunshine yesterday to brave 8 degree Celsius water in Vienna's Alte Donau.
By the time summer really rolls around, the Alte Donau will be one of the warmest places in Austria to go swimming, possibly reaching 23 degrees.
