Roskilde Festival organizers announced 21 new names for their 2016 edition, bringing the total number of confirmed performers to 53 out of an eventual line-up of 175 acts.
Highlighting Monday’s announcement was LCD Soundsystem, who will return to the festival for the first time since 2010.
“LCD Soundsystem’s reunion almost came out of the blue, and we didn’t dare to believe the initial rumours. We’re happy to be part of this reunion, presenting them for the third time at Roskilde Festival,” festival spokesman Anders Wahrén said.
Roskilde also announced that “Denmark’s biggest pop star” MØ would play the festival’s iconic Orange stage, the latest in a string of triumphs for the Odense native. MØ was behind Spotify’s most streamed song ever with ‘Lean On’ and recently performed at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.
Other additions included Australian rock band Tame Impala, UK post-punkers Savages and Scandinavian metal bands Kvelertak and Ghost.
The 2016 Roskilde Festival will take place June 25 through July 2, with the first four days serving as a “warm up” with up and coming acts from the Nordics before the main line-up kicks off.
Previously announced acts include New Order, PJ Harvey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wiz Khalifa and Tenacious D.
