75-year-old Josef Mittermeir, from Upper Austria, was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and doctors have said his disease is terminal. The only joy left to him is smoking cigars – something his doctors have allowed him to do. He is also a big fan of Schwarzenegger, who was born in Styria in Austria, and is himself a cigar enthusiast.

Mittermeir’s daughter, Sarah, launched an appeal on Facebook asking for help in contacting Arnie and wondering if he might like to donate a cigar from his collection to her dad. Her appeal went viral, with 90,000 likes and several media outlets reporting on it.

She was then contacted by Schwarzenegger’s friend and fellow actor Ralf Möller – who told her that Arnie is going to send her dad some cigars by post and will also call him on Saturday from Kitzbühel, where he’s currently staying. Möller also promised to send two cigars from his own collection, as well as a photo of himself and Arnie.

“When I told my father the good news he started crying, I have never seen him so moved in my entire life. He asked me to tell Ralf that he had given him the greatest gift,” Sarah said.
