Statistics Denmark revealed on Thursday that, for the first time since the agency began keeping official figures, Nielsen is now the most popular last name in Denmark.

There are 255,138 people named Nielsen, topping the 254,675 Jensens. Rounding out the top five were the family names Hansen, Pedersen and Andersen. All five names have decreased in number since 2002, Statistics Denmark said.

Among Denmark’s entire population, a full 48 percent have last names ending with -sen. Thirty years ago, that number was 66 percent.

Peter is the most popular first name for men, while Anne was the most popular amongst women.
