David Bowie spent three of the most important years of his creative life living in Berlin between 1976 and 1979.
During this period he lived with punk legend Iggy Pop in Schöneberg, where Bowie helped create Iggy Pop’s seminal Album The Idiot.
Bowie also brought out three albums of his own during this period which were heavily influenced by German Krautrock sounds. The second of the three albums’ “Heroes” title song is perhaps Bowie most well-known single piece of music.
The Local takes you through some of the most iconic spots in the Thin White Duke's Berlin odyssey.
