Princess Victoria, who is heir to the Swedish throne, told reporters on a visit to Värmland in south west Sweden that suggestions she is set to give birth to twins in the new year are untrue.
“It perhaps looks like that!” she joked with a journalist from Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, pointing at her bump.
The reporter then tried to coax her into giving away the gender of her next child by asking if her first born, three-year-old Princess Estelle, was longing for a little brother or sister to play with.
However the princess answered: “What she really wants is a hamster!”

Princess Victoria, 38, is in Värmland on an official visit which includes a trip to Karlstad University and a centre for unaccompanied refugee children.
She has been joined on the assignment by her husband Prince Daniel, her former fitness instructor, who also stopped to chat to journalists and locals.
“We thought it would rain but the sun always seems to shine here in Karlstad,” he was quoted as saying by Aftonbladet.
The couple are not the only Swedish royals expecting a baby in 2016.
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia announced in October that they are also set to become parents, just months after tying the knot in Stockholm.
Princess Madeleine gave birth to the current youngest member of the Swedish royal family, Prince Nicolas in June.
