Tenerife played host to one of Spain's more unusual festivals on Monday, when residents donned their wackiest hats for the annual Festival of the Pamela.

Every August the residents of Tejina on the Canary Island of Tenerife let their creative juices flow during their village's annual festival, which runs from August 23rd – September 6th.

One of the festival highlights, on August 31st, was the Fair of the Pamela, during which villagers showed off their home-made headgear, featuring everything from giant sunflowers to VW camper vans. The designs were loud, proud and gravity-defying.
