Cycling group launches emergency repair service

The General Germany Bicycle Association (ADFC) is offering the service 24-hour and for only €11.90 a year.

When any of their 150,000 members notice that an inner tube needs patching up they can call a hotline for advice or ask for the services of a specialist who will come to them to make the repair at the location of the 'breakdown.'

“We know that everyday cyclists are painfully missing this service,“ said Burkhard Stork, the business chief of the ADFC, in a press release. “This is why we are doing it, not for business reasons.”

“More and more people are choosing to cycle rather than drive. This is a great development!“ Stork went on.

“But when our lives are organized around our bikes – we cycle to work, to the kindergarten, maybe with children in a trailer, or go shopping all on our bikes – we need help when our bike encounters problems.“

The association has not yet announced plans to give cyclists a push start at the beginning of journeys.

Nor have they yet issued a recommendation that one should always cycle with stabilizers as a precaution.
