After their picture-perfect wedding on Saturday, it appears Prince Carl Philip and his bride snuck away quickly to begin their honeymoon.

Sweden's Aftonbladet newspaper, which already has a reporter in Fiji, broke the news on Friday morning that the royal couple had left for their holiday just hours after their wedding celebrations, which are said to have carried on until 5.30am on Sunday.

The paper reported that Fiji was the first stop on a three-week trip for the couple.

The couple requested to stay out of the spotlight, declining to be interviewed by Aftonbladet's crew, before taking another flight to a smaller island belonging to the Swiss owner of Red Bull, Dietrich Mateschitz.

A room on the island, called Laucala, costs up to 45,000 kronor ($5,500) a night, and can count Oprah Winfrey and Elle Macpherson among previous guests.

Lavish honeymoons aren't out of the norm for the Swedish royal family. The prince's sister Crown Princess Victoria headed to French Polynesia, while Princess Madeleine went to Seychelles.
