The 22-year-old man, known as Rodrigo M.D, was left deflated in court on Thursday, June 18th, after being fined €360 ($407) for pulling the plug of an inflatable pool and causing massive flooding to a shopping centre in northern Spain.
The fine is a drop in the ocean compared to the €21,500 ($24,300) in damages the Spanish youth has already been ordered to pay to businesses damaged by the flooding.
The inflatable pool had been set up in the Ponte Vella shopping centre in Ourense, Galicia, in November 2012 to entertain local children, but the actions of the then 19-year-old Rodrigo turned a fun day out into a damp squib.
He decided to pull out the security plug on the swimming pool, causing 11,000 litres of water to gush out, flooding several shops and causing €21,500 of damage, according to local newspaper, La Voz de Galicia.
The paddling pool water flooded several shops, including Zara, Pepe Jeans and a local supermarket.
