What’s on in Sweden: June 11th-17th

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that this weekend is the wedding of Prince Carl-Philip and Sofia Hellqvist, which will take place at 4:30pm at the Royal Chapel in Gamla Stan. 

Realistically, the best chances of catching a glimpse of the couple are on your TV screens but if you’re lucky you might see the bride and groom during their horse and carriage ride through the city after the service.

The cortège will pass the Royal Palace’s Outer Courtyard and along Slottsbacken, Skeppsbron, Slottskajen, Norrbro, Regeringsgatan, Hamngatan, Nybroplan, Nybrokajen, Hovslagargatan, Södra Blasieholmshamnen, Strömbron och will end at Logården.

Of course, that’s not the only thing going on in the capital this week.

Now in its fifth year, popular house and electronic music festival Summerburst will be coming to Stockholm on Friday and Saturday. Highlights include performances from Avicii, Afrojack and Axwell Ʌ Ingrosso.

Over in Gothenburg, American rockers the Foo Fighters will be performing at the Ullevi stadium on Friday and Western Sweden is hosting a gay pride festival until Sunday. Click here for a full festival program.

It’s too late to register, but if you’re a cycling fan you could spend this weekend watching the largest recreational bicycle ride in the world, known as Vätternrundan. As the name suggests, the 300 km course follows the shoreline of the beautiful Lake Vättern in central Sweden.
