Officers from Spain’s national police force arrested the 18-year-old, identified as José Manuel G.V for threatening his mother with a kitchen knife because he did not want to eat her meatballs.

“I don’t want this shitty food, give me money so I can eat out or I’ll stab you,” the young Spaniard told his mother, according to police sources.

José Manuel G.V is accused of insulting and threatening his mother in their house in Palma on the Balearic Island of Mallorca.

According to police sources quoted in local newspaper Ultima Hora, José Manuel asked his mother what was for dinner. She replied that she had prepared some “albondigas” – Spanish meatballs – or if he preferred, she could cook him some chops.

He then exploded, shouting that he did not want this “shitty food” and demanded his mother give him some money to eat out or else he would stab her.

His mother gave him €10 and left the house.

When she returned a few minutes later, she saw that her son had made himself a sandwich and accused him of taking her money to pay for “marijuana” or to “gamble at the local casino”.

The teenager then verbally attacked his mother yet again, calling her a “son of a bitch” and a “dirty pig” before adding “you should have died in childbirth”.

He then grabbed the kitchen knife and threatened “keep going and I’ll kill you, I’ll stab you”.

His mother is currently considering taking out a restraining order on her own son.

Two Americans die scaling sea cliffs in Spain

Two American men have plunged to their deaths while scaling sea cliffs on Spain's holiday island of Mallorca, police said on Wednesday.

The bodies of the pair – aged 25 and 35 – were found on Monday floating in the water near the Cueva de es Cossi in the east of the Mediterranean island, a spokeswoman for the Guardia Civil police said.

They had been practising deep-water soloing, a form of rock climbing without ropes that relies solely on the presence of water at the base of a climb to protect against injury from falls.

“It appears that there was a rockslide and they fell,” the spokeswoman said.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after being alerted by swimmers in the area who spotted the badly bruised bodies of the two men floating in the water, she added.

Spain’s maritime rescue service recovered their remains, which were taken to the nearby port of Portocolom.

The area has long been popular for deep water soloing, also known as psicobloc.

While the sport is usually practised on sea cliffs at high tide, it can also be done on climbs above reservoirs and rivers.
