A weather warning is in effect for most of the country, with DMI predicting heavy rainfall on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

For most of the country, there is a chance for an accumulation of up to 35mm of rain during the day as well as local cloudbursts.

“It looks like as much as 15 millimetres of rain can fall within a half hour, which meets the criteria of a cloudburst. But these will be very local, so it is difficult to say how much will fall where,” meteorologist Anja Bodholdt told BT.

The downpour risk is higher in the southern and eastern parts of the country, including Zealand, Funen and Southern Jutland.

DMI predicted that the heavy rains will hit the southern part of the country in the afternoon before moving toward Funen and Zealand.

Bodholdt said that the rains will bring with them a risk of flooding, but said that overall Tuesday’s rain wouldn’t be as intense as the August 2014 downpour that flooded large parts of Copenhagen after more than 100mm of rain pummelled the city in just a few hours.
