Around 13,000 officers will be checking drivers' speeds at 7,000 spots across Germany, in addition to the existing fixed speed cameras.
Particular focus will be on accident hot spots, in residential areas and in front of daycare centres (Kitas), as police hope to remind motorists of the dangers of speeding.
The one state not participating is Schleswig-Holstein, where thousands of officers were tied up this week securing the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Lübeck on Tuesday and Wednesday.
