Copenhagen airport cab fares second priciest

Going away for the Easter holiday? If you’re planning on taking a taxi to Copenhagen Airport, be prepared to pay up. 

 

The eight-kilometre trip will typically set you back £23.88 (around 245 kroner), according to an analysis from the UK-based group No. 1 Currency.

 

That amounts to £2.99 per kilometre, nearly 16 times the rate for a similar trip between Istanbul and its airport and more than 10 times pricier than a journey between Reykjavik’s city centre and its airport, the company said.

 

Only in Geneva is an airport-city transfer more expensive than in Copenhagen. In the Swiss city, the six-kilometre trip costs £22.83, or £3.80 per kilometre.

 

Brussels ranks as the third most costly (£2.47 per kilometre), followed by London-Heathrow (£2.43).

Luckily, passengers flying out of Copenhagen Airport have plenty of options besides a cab. The airport can easily be accessed from the city centre by train, Metro or bus. 

 

On a per kilometre basis, Istanbul ranks as the cheapest place to take a taxi from the airport at £0.19.

But the absolute cheapest cab ride between a European city centre and its nearest airport is in Sofia, Bulgaria, where the 10-kilometre trip will set you back just £3.33, No. 1 Currency said.

 

“Our research reveals that there is a huge variation in the cost of a taxi depending on which European city you’re visiting, so do your research before you travel,” Simon Phillips, retail director for No. 1 Currency said in a statement.

 

“If the airport to city centre taxi ride is particularly pricey, like Milan, then taking the bus or train may be the better option,” Phillips said.

 

“Alternatively, you could book a taxi in advance of travelling to your weekend destination, as this could work out significantly cheaper than flagging down a taxi outside the airport,” he added.
