Rush hour rail delays expected in west Sweden

Trains in and out of Gothenburg are expected to be delayed for the rest of the day following a track problem at Lerum station just outside the city.

Services between Gothenburg and Alingsås are affected, while the issue may also impact on services towards Stockholm, Mariestad, Nässjö and Skövde.

Earlier in the day, services in south and west Sweden got held up due to a separate fault on a train travelling between Hässleholm and Höör.

Sweden's Transport Agency told the TT newswire that it expected the fault in the Lerum are to be fixed late on Monday night or in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile snow is continuing to fall in most parts of the country and the agency is warning drivers to be careful on the roads.

Southern and northern Svealand are expected to experience the worst of the bad weather in the coming hours.

Ice warnings also are in place in northern Skåne, Blekinge, Halland and southern Småland.
