Police smash ‘Pig’s Head’ prostitution ring

The gang, described as highly dangerous by Spanish press, allegedly operated a ring involving over 100 prostitutes who worked out of Madrid's Casa del Campo park.

Six Romanian citizens were arrested, members of the gang once led by the notorious 'Pig’s Head' – Cabeza de cerdo – one of the world's most wanted criminals before his eventual arrest in 2011.

The arrested men are alleged to have planted an explosive device under a rival’s car in Madrid's Parla district in November 2014. However, the attempt attack went wrong with one member of the Pig’s Head gang member seriously injured in the incident.

Spain's 20 minutos newspaper reported of an alleged ‘war’ between rival gangs around the Casa de Campo park in Madrid that started after “Pig’s Head”, Ioan Clamparu, was sentenced to an unprecedented 30 years in prison on child prostitution charges in 2012.

Clamparu was sentenced by Madrid’s provincial court in February 2012, after having brought Romanian women over to Spain with the promise of hotel work only to tell them, on their arrival, that they had to pay off their debt to the gang by working as prostitutes.
