Shortly after 11 p.m. police received a call from the man, in which he threatened to kill his mother.

Police went immediately to surround the man's house in Hollabrunn.  Upon entry, they found the man's mother unharmed.  After a brief search, the man was found at a neighbour's house, holding a realistic-looking toy gun.

The 36-year-old man was totally drunk, with a blood alcohol level of 2.24 millilitres.

When officers asked the man why he had behaved as he had, he replied that he had personal problems and was unemployed.  He confessed that his call to the police was a suicide attempt, hoping that the officers would shoot him.

Police took the man to a doctor instead, at the Hollabrunn Regional Hospital.
