iPad returned a month after lost on train

An Italian woman got an early Christmas present this week when she recovered her lost iPad, a month after leaving it on a train close to Rome.

Daniela Di Martino left her iPad on a train at Bracciano’s lakeside station on November 15th, telling friends on Facebook she felt lost without it.

She went to the police but was unable to recover the tablet – until now.

“I’ve revealed the mystery!!! They’ve returned my iPad, thanks,” Di Martino posted on Facebook on Wednesday.

“This evening I’m optimistic, happy Christmas in advance,” she later added.

In what was described as a “miracle” by Rome newspaper Il Messaggero, a Philippino woman found and returned the tablet.

The woman phoned Di Martino and brought the iPad to a market where the Italian works, the newspaper said.

Her story may well be of comfort to Francesco Plateroti, an Italian art collector who last month left a €1 million work on a train. He said he was “crushed” on realizing he had left the 13th century Chinese scroll on a Paris-Geneva train, and hopes to recover the art work by offering a reward.
