So you’ve made friends with an Austrian, congratulations. Austrians are some of the most generous friends and hosts you will encounter. Hanging out with Austrians means learning to socialize like one, too. Relax, you’re in for a treat.
But there are a few things you should know about. Austrian society is deeply influenced by the Catholic traditions, which includes a lot of feasting and drinking, so an evening with Austrians – at home or on the town – is by no means austere.
Austrians also tend to be extremely well educated, so don't expect a typically hedonistic night out, it is likely to be peppered with insightful and somewhat highbrow conversation.
