The IEE, a think tank close to the Spanish Confederation of Employers’ Organizations (CEOE), released a study on Thursday comparing manufacturing labour costs per hour in 28 different countries.
Costs in Spain were lower than in Norway (€56.46), Switzerland (€48.95), Belgium (€42.65), Sweden (€42.19), Denmark (€41.29), Germany (€36.77), France (€36.39), the Netherlands (€34.45) and Austria (€34.41).
According to Spanish daily 20 Minutos, Spanish costs were closest to Japan (€23.34), the UK (€24.41), the USA (€25.93) and Italy (€27.61).
At the other end of the scale were countries including Turkey (€5.45), Mexico (€5.13), China (€4.44) and Bulgaria (€2.97). The lowest manufacturing wages in the world were found in the Philippines (€1.83 per hour).
