The royal couple will dine with the French writer on Wednesday, with a dinner also booked in with this year’s economics laureate Jean Tirole. Both winners are set to receive their prizes in Stockholm next week.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and his wife have a packed schedule as their trip moves forward.

They are set to visit the cultural centre Le Centquatre in the French capital as well as a photo exhibition about Sweden’s northern student city Umeå at the Gare de Lyon station. At an underground restaurant inside the station, they will also be meeting with one of Sweden’s top chefs, Tommy Myllymäki.

The King and Queen will then hold a press conference , before hosting a banquet at the Théâtre Chaillot.

The dinner is a response to the dinner French President François Hollande held last night at the Elysee Palace, where the King used his speech to stress the importance of the key international climate change summit that is taking place in Paris next year.

On Tuesday the royal couple also met with Sweden’s star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They were joined by several Social Democrat ministers (Mikael Damberg , Ylva Johansson and Ibrahim Baylan), who took a moment to forget about the current budget crisis in Sweden and took the opportunity to take selfies with the Sweden and PSG player.
