The 157 square metre apartment with three bedrooms in Gimle, Oslo, sold for 40 million kroner ($5.9 million). This gave a price per square metre of 254,777 kroner ($37,500) – a new record amongst Nordic countries.

The property's real estate agent, Odd Kalsnes, would not reveal who bought the apartment, according to Finansavisen.

The seller took over the apartment in 1998 for 950,000 kroner ($140,000) from a woman who owned the apartment since it was new in 1968.
