Yes, it's true. Spain is blessed with countless buildings of world-class beauty — marvels like Barcelona's Sagrada Familia, the Alhambra Palace in Granada and the space-age City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia.

But a belated rush to join the 20th century after decades of isolation under the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, and a credit-fuelled building boom have also left the country with its share of architectural eyesores.

And while beauty is the eye of the beholder, we're sure you'll agree some of these buildings would have been better left on the architect's drawing board.
