The incident occurred at around 7.30 on Monday morning between Unnaryd and Hylyebruk in Halland. Both the bus and the car careened off the road and into a ditch.

Several emergency teams were sent to the scene.

Exact details remain unclear, but the Dagens Nyheter newspaper reported that six people had been hospitalized.

Swedish media initially reported that it was a school bus in the accident, but a police spokesperson said later this was not the case.
"There are very likely school students on board, but this is just a normal bus," Sofie Fagerström of the Halland police told the Expressen newspaper.

She added that no one was in a critical condition.
