The town of Kristianstad in southern Sweden saw the mercury reach 17.7C on Tuesday.
"You would have to go all the way back to 1951 to find temperatures that high so late in October," said Marcus Sjöstedt, a meteorologist at Sweden's weather agency SMHI.
Most of the lower half of Sweden enjoyed pleasant weather on Tuesday, with highs of around 15C widespread.
But sun seekers shouldn't get too excited, as the cold weather was already back with a vengeance on Wednesday.
