Around ten flights were cancelled on Monday at Stockholm's Arlanda Airport and Gothenburg's Landvetter Airport.
Swedavia, the company that owns and operates both airports, announced that the same could be expected on Tuesday.
Almost 1,500 flights have been cancelled so far across Europe, with passengers urged to check online whether their flights have been cancelled. The strike is planned to begin on Monday at 1pm and run until midnight on Tuesday.
The German pilots' union Cockpit called for a new 35-hour walkout at Lufthansa starting on Monday morning, accusing the airline of “stonewalling” in negotiations over the airline’s plan to raise the minimum retirement age for pilots.
The stoppage will target passenger flights across Germany from Monday at 1pm until midnight on Tuesday, the union said in a statement on Sunday, while a further statement on Monday morning added that long-haul pilots will strike from 6am on Tuesday until midnight.
Lufthansa said late on Sunday that the strike would affect some 2,150 flights and more than 200,000 passengers, but that it had found enough willing pilots to ensure "a third" of the flights would be running.
