According to airline news site CheckIn.dk, a strike by Lufthansa pilots will affect flights in and out of both Copenhagen Airport and Billund Airport. Passengers flying to Frankfurt, however, can utilise SAS flights, as the two airlines have a codeshare agreement, while passengers travelling between Copenhagen and Munich will be able to fly as normal, as the Lufthansa jets used for those flights are not affected by the strike.
The German pilots' union Cockpit called for a new 35-hour walkout at Lufthansa starting Monday morning, accusing the airline of “stonewalling” in negotiations over the airline’s plan to raise the minimum retirement age for pilots.
The stoppage will target passenger flights across Germany from Monday at 1pm until midnight on Tuesday, the union said in a statement on Sunday, while a further statement on Monday morning added that long-haul pilots will strike from 6am on Tuesday until midnight.
Lufthansa said late on Sunday that the strike would affect some 2,150 flights and more than 200,000 passengers, but that it had found enough willing pilots to ensure "a third" of the flights would be running.
