Work will begin in just over a month to create the 450 million kroner ($71.5 million) "car city" across the Nordic countries in Forus, south-west Norway. Five car suppliers join forces inside one shared building, and it shall be the largest "car city" of its kind across the Nordic region.
From October 1st, a huge 29,000 square meter building will start to be built. It will house car makers Toyota, Mazda, Volvo, Ford and Lexus.
The purpose is to help the five brands increase their sales from 25 percent to 30 percent of the total new car sale market in and around Stavanger. The car city directors Ådne Kverneland and Ståle Oftedal also want to make the car buying and owning experience more customer friendly.
Kverneland said to Aftenbladet: “We came together to bring together under one roof companies dedicated expertise on tyres, chassis workshops, car lacquer workshops and other service functions, where we today use external companies.”
“Brødrene Kverneland Eiendom” (Kverneland Brothers Real Estate) is the constructor and owner of the building.
