There aren't many places in the world where beach, mountain, desert and forest are less than an hour’s drive from each other.

That, added to enviably mild temperatures (16C to 32C degrees) all year round, make Tenerife something more than a little special.

And yet for many people who visit from abroad, the island is just a cheap package holiday deal where booze, sunburn and all-inclusive buffets are their best holiday memories.
