GAME OF THRONES

Game of Thrones seeks slim Spanish extras

Casting for scenes from the hit fantasy drama to be shot in Spain this year begins on Tuesday, with producers demanding male applicants be in good shape and female ones have long hair.

A total of 2,500 people, women and men in equal numbers, will be hired by HBO’s recruiting company as extras on scenes set to be shot in the Andalusian town of Osuna.

But auditions aren’t open to everyone.

As local daily El Diario de Sevilla reports, budding extras are expected to be thin and between 18 and 60 years old.

The women must have long hair without any highlights or colouring and the men must be physically fit but not “bodybuilders”.

Applicants with large, visible tattoos will be turned down and men must be willing to either shave or let their beard grow at the producers’ request.

Even though it’s a closed casting, after a staggering 55,000 people applied last July for the auditions, 50 people slept outside the Osuna sports complex where Tuesday and Wednesday’s castings will be held in order to be first in line.

Fresco Film y Moderxpor Casting Internacional have told applicants to expect long working hours and a daily €50 payslip.

The chosen ones will be residents of the Kingdom of Dorne, a mythical territory set to make its debut in the fifth season of Game of Thrones, based on George R.R. Martin’s book Song of Ice and Fire.
